HRÈ is a dedicated online art gallery and store that celebrates the beauty of printed art. The founder and sole creator behind every original work is Katarzyna Karlen, a photographer and specialist in generative visual language based in Switzerland, with over a decade of experience in art-fashion and editorial photography. At HRÈ, through a hybrid digital process she integrates various techniques to create images that embody her individual vision and refined personal aesthetic. Her creative output - spanning both traditional photographic and tech-based work is anchored in a minimalist and monochromatic style.
The artist’s work engages with visual codes drawn from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, early modernism, and Japanese aesthetic traditions, while also recalling the clarity, material precision, and psychological stillness of seventeenth-century Dutch painting. She forms a bridge between historical sensibility and contemporary vision, reactivating traditional aesthetics through a distinctly modern approach.
The author's philosophy is focused on profound beauty, perfection of detail and elevated artistry achieved through the remarkable capabilities afforded by contemporary technology. By deliberately avoiding colours and ephemeral trends, she creates a unique visual narrative that emphasizes purity, composition and the power of restraint.
The works carry the imprint of cultural memory without explicit reference. Although they do not refer to a single national context, the artist originates from Poland - a country deeply marked by the experience of Second World War, whose consequences left a particularly profound imprint on the lives of many generations of women. The echo of this history appears not through direct reference, but as an emotional substratum: experiences of loss, survival, and quiet resilience inscribed in the gazes and presence of the figures, who represent diverse identities and archetypes.
